Elizabeth's Acne Journey

  1. How long have you experienced acne for?
"I’ve been dealing with acne for about 12 years."

  2. What has been the most challenging part of your acne journey?
"Learning to embrace my acne and realizing that it doesn’t define who I am. That mindset shift was probably the hardest, but also the most rewarding, part of my journey."

  3. What has helped you gain confidence?
"The biggest thing was choosing not to hide from my acne anymore. I also built a healthier relationship with makeup. Instead of using it to cover what I saw as flaws, I started using it as a creative outlet and something I genuinely enjoy. That change completely shifted how I viewed myself."

  4. What do you wish more people understood about acne?
"I wish more people understood that acne isn’t one size fits all. For some people it’s a quick fix, but for others it’s much more deeply rooted. Everyone’s journey is different. Be kind to people who are going through it, and if you’re struggling with acne yourself, be patient. It can be a long journey, but it also teaches you so much about yourself along the way."

Elizabeth's Personal Growth and Advice

  1. How has acne changed your perspective on beauty, especially the standards that often exist on social media?
"Acne completely changed the way I define beauty. It made me realize that beauty exists in so many different forms, yet we’re often the hardest on ourselves. The moment I stopped seeing my “imperfections” as flaws and started recognizing them as part of what makes me unique, everything changed. We find beauty in so many different people and things. We deserve to see that same beauty in ourselves."

  2. What advice would you give to your younger self or someone currently struggling with acne?
"I would tell her that she’s so much more than her acne. This is just one chapter of her life, not her whole story. Don’t let your intrusive thoughts convince you that your worth is tied to your skin. Give yourself permission to grow, to flourish, and to see yourself the way the people who love you already do."

Elizabeth's Unfiltered Message

"Don’t believe everything you see on the internet. It’s much easier than people think to make things look different than they really are. Be kind to yourself, and learn to separate your thoughts from reality. Our minds can convince us of things that simply aren’t true. It’s kind of like when we’re kids and we’re afraid of the monsters under the bed. Eventually we realize they were never really there. In the same way, the insecurities we create in our minds often aren’t the way the world sees us."
